A short opening hole which is relatively straightforward, with club selection very important. Three bunkers guard the green which is slightly elevated at the sides and back. Miss the green and you will struggle to get your par. Large pine trees line the right hand side of the fairway, and the left hand side is bordered by the practice putting green with the Cathcart Cairn landmark overlooking the green.
